From prompt to hashtag album cover. How an AI interprets well-known song lyrics.

The 60s and 70s were a time of creative awakening, cultural revolution and, of course, legendary music that continues to inspire generations to this day. During a project at ultrabold, I asked myself: How can we transfer this artistic era into the modern design world?

The answer: Midjourney

The need for discussion about artificial image creation is in full swing and as a glorified nostalgic, I am critical of it, even though the designer in me knows that you shouldn’t let this moving train pass you by.

So, in a fit of nostalgia and curiosity, I imagined using well-known song lyrics from the last century as prompts for designing album covers. The result? An homage to the past that also shows new directions in the design world. Midjourney’s images take us on a journey through the history of music. It’s fascinating to see how the emotion and energy of these songs can be transformed into visual imagery.
